"Words which do not give the light of Christ increase the darkness" - Mother Teresa
But...
The light of Christ is scary. It's not a light that gives of a romantic glow, not a soft blue flame of a night light. It has blinded Paul...what will it do to me?
"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart O God, you will not despise" - Psalm 51:17
You must be born again to be saved. Oh, that sounds fine...but what if a baby had the sense to know what was happening? Put me in a womb, let me know nothing else but warm darkness...then try to get me out in the light...I wouldn't go. Is that why we must be like little children to go to Jesus? To trust there is another world of gold trees and crystal rivers when all we see are oil spilled gulfs and mountains through the smog?
"He who was seated on the throne said, 'I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." - Revelations 21:3-5
People think being a Christian means you are super human, with a full pocketbook and a million friends and a faithful lover. I start to believe it, and I work towards my goal of perfection. Then, someone doesn't love me, and they break me, and I have a torn edge and there isn't enough makeup to hide it. I run to the dark, because the light will expose my bleeding gash. I still see it (thanks to cities on hills), I see light.
I'm going to it; trusting He will heal me and embrace me with my broken holes. Trust that God is Love. I will believe this.
"But to this one I will look, to him who is humble and contrite of spirit and who trembles at my word." -Isaiah 66:2b
To be healed...you have to know you're hurt. Christ-following is for the broken and childish, the hurt hearts and the stumbling helpless.
"God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are so that no man may boast before God." - 1 Cor. 1:27-28
